AEW Collision Results: Winners, Live Grades, Reaction and Highlights Before All In

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage and recap of AEW Collision on August 26. This is the final show before All In on Sunday, so this was AEW's last chance to sell the show to anyone who was still on the fence about watching.

We got a couple of smaller matches with the likes of Keith Lee and Big Bill facing smaller competitors, but we also saw some of AEW's biggest stars in action.

Sting, CM Punk, Darby Alling and a fourth partner took on Swerve Strickland, Luchasaurus, Brian Cage (no relation) and Jay White.

We also saw Orange Cassidy, The Dark Order and Willow Nightingale in action. :Et's take a look at everything that happened on Saturday's episode of Collision.

Collision.AEW

Jack Perry came to the ring with the FTW title being carried to the ring. He held a special ceremony to retire the championship for good, but he was interrupted and suplexed through a table by Hook. He picked up a mic and simply said "Wembley."

The first match of the night was a trios bout with Eddie Kingston, Penta El Zero Miedo and Orange Cassidy taking on The Butcher, The Blade and Kip Sabian.

Sabian and Penta started for their teams with a bit of taunting. As soon as Penelope Ford shoved Alex Abrahantes to the floor, all hell broke loose.

It took a long time for this to settle down. Once it was down to just the legal competitors fighting in the ring, the pace slowed a bit and we saw more cohesive action.

This match had six guys who all had different styles, but they were also all seasoned competitors who could work against any style, so the match had plenty of great action. However, it also had some awkward moments that could have been easily avoided with some different camera angles.

The Mad King scored the win for his team by pinning Sabian. He and his team celebrated as they prepared for Stadium Stampede on Sunday night.

Winners: Kingston, Cassidy and Penta

Notable Moments and Observations

• Hook doing pull-ups on a stoplight was unintentionally hilarious. 
• Perry has continued to get more and more comfortable as a heel each week. This was a good segment. 
• AEW needs to get better about having guys who are waiting for their spot being shown on camera just sitting there watching everyone else go through the motions. 
• The Butcher and Kingson colliding in the ring like two kaiju was awesome. 

Collision.AEW

The Dark Order was represented by John Silver and Alex Reynolds this week when they took on the pairing of Darius Martin and Action Andretti.

Silver and Andretti started with some basic grappling. Silver flexed in the 25-year-old's face before going after his arm.

Andretti spent a lot of time in the ring on defense while The Dark Order kept him cut off from his corner with quick tags and double-team spots.

This was the kind of tag team match that AEW made its name on. It was simple, but effective. The rules were observed for the most part, both teams had a chance to show off, and the crowd seemed to be having a good time.

With so much happening over the next two weeks in AEW, it's unlikely anyone will remember this match by next week, but all four guys still put all of their efforts into delivering a good performance for the crowd.

The Dark Order picked up a victory with the double jackknife powerbomb. This was a solid match from top to bottom.

Notable Moments and Observations

• It's great to see Silver and Reynolds being taken a little more seriously. The Dark Order was great for the comedy stuff, but they are also good wrestlers. 
• Silver and Reynolds' new gear looked good. 

Collision.AEW

Ricky Starks accompanied Big Bill to the ring for a match against a local competitor named Vary Morales.

Big Bill usually towers over his competitors, but he looked extra imposing next to this young man, who couldn't have been taller than 5'6". Obviously, Bill won with ease.

This was never really about getting the giant a win. This was about giving Starks an excuse to be on TV and make light of his attack on Ricky Steamboat.

Winner: Big Bill

Grade: Incomplete

The next match saw Robyn Renegade take on one of AEW's hottest rising stars, Willow Nightingale.

Charlett Renegade was at ringside to support her sister, but Nightingale was going to win this match no matter what. This wasn't quite as one-sided as the previous bout, but it certainly wasn't a back-and-forth struggle most of the time either.

Willow got the win, but Robyn did manage to get in some offense during the break while the match was being shown in picture-in-picture. This was a decent match that got more competitive as it went, so it ended up finishing stronger than it started.

AEW's women's division definitely deserves more screen time, especially when it comes to PPVs. With All In only having one women's bout, it would have been nice to see more on the weekly shows leading into it.

Winner: Willow Nightingale

Notable Moments and Observations

• Starks made a comment about having a bigger strap next week, so he is probably going to make a challenge for a Strap match. 
• The ref really let a lot go when it came to Charlett getting involved.

Keith Lee took on Zicky Dice in the next matchup. They spent a lot of time posing and talking trash before The Limitless One took Dice out with a clothesline.

Lee won with a powerbomb in just a couple of minutes. This was pretty much a squash match, but it was more entertaining than most bouts that are this short, which is a testament to how entertaining Dice and Lee can be.

Winner: Keith Lee

Notable Moments and Observations

• The announcers did a good job quickly introducing Dice to fans who might not be familiar with him.

The final match of the night was a huge eight-man tag bout with CM Punk, Sting, Darby Allin and Hook taking on Swerve Strickland, Luchasaurus, Brian Cage and Jay White.

Swerve and Punk started off with a quick lockup. The leader of Mogul Embassy took the Straight-Edge Superstar with a quick arm drag and seemed to surprise him with his speed a bit.

This match had well over the final 20 minutes of the show, so all eight competitors had a chance to be in the ring with at least one or two of their opponents at different times. We got to see quite a few combinations, but the most interesting was probably White and Punk because they spent a lot of time talking trash to each other.

With a lot of these guys competing at All In, it wasn't surprising to see some of them take it a little easy, but that doesn't mean this wasn't a fun main event. For a match with so many moving parts, they managed their time well.

Punk's team ended up coming out on top when he hit Brian with the GTS and then locked him in Joe's own submission. As soon as it was over, Joe rushed the ring and attacked his former best friend.

The show ended with everyone brawling and chaos ensuing, which seems to be a trend with go-home shows before PPVs in every promotion.

Notable Moments and Observations

• Hook being the mystery partner felt somewhat random given that he is in a feud with someone who isn't in this match, but he was a good choice to pop the crowd. 
• Brian wearing face paint to both mock and honor Sting when he faces him is a great detail. 
• Hook isn't exactly small, but he's still deceptively strong for his size. The way he threw Swerve over his head looked like it took minimal effort. 
• Give Prince Nana a raise. 
• The way Brian was throwing Allin around like a rag doll was hilarious. 

As far as this go-home show before a PPV goes, these episodes always have the task of trying to not only hype the upcoming event but also produce a show that night that is worth the price fans paid for admission.

This week's Collision did a decent job mixing in some good pro wrestling action with the video packages and interviews needed to build All In. A couple of the squash matches felt unnecessary, but that is a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things.

Was it the most memorable episode of Collision? Not by a long shot, but it accomplished its goal of being a go-home episode and a cromulent episode in its own right.

The card for All In might not be what some fans were hoping for, but it definitely has plenty of matches that are capable of stealing the show.
